Private John Stewart

 

John Stewart was born on 2 March 1900 in Fountain Street, Antrim, the third of five children of veterinary surgeon William Stewart and his wife Jane (née Caulfield). By the time of the 1911 Census he was living in Fountain Street with his parents and siblings.

Stewart enlisted in the North Irish Horse between 1917 and 1919 (regimental number unknown at present). He remained with the regiment at its Antrim reserve depot for the duration of the war.

 

Stewart's older brother James Maxwell Stewart also served in the North Irish Horse during the war.
